Week 1 Earth Path reflection: Meaning of Awen
1. What places in nature inspire you?
Woods, Meadows, and Oceans
2. Do you have a favorite outdoor place? Why?
I have several favorite outdoor places that touch a very special place inside and they all help with different aspects of things that I might be dealing with at that specific time in my life.
I love to take a walk in the woods during fall and coming upon a babbling brook with a beautiful cascading waterfall and listen to wolf song in the background.
I love laying in a meadow during spring and closing my eyes and using my other senses to connect to the nature around me. Like smelling the fragrances of so many different flowers, listening to the bird song and the little noise made by bees, dragonflies, and even butterflies. I also love to hear the wind whistling through the leaves and kissing my skin as it pass by.
The last place I love to be is standing barefooted in the sand and feeling the water rush up over my feet. I love the smell of the salty see air as it whips around you. I like it on sunny days when you have the chance of seeing dolphins playing in the waves. I also enjoy laying on the beach as storm moves across the sky and watching the lighting dance across the water and realizing the power that holds it is an awesome sight.
3. How does nature inspire you?
Nature inspires met to become a better person. If I take the time to listen and follow the signs I am rewarded with stories and teaching that have been passed down from generation to generation of people willing to take the time to listen and to send their stories and teaching on the wind for those of us willing to listen. I am inspired by the way that ants work together and show me that together we will accomplish more than if I go it alone. The way that mommy and daddy birds work so hard together to build a home for their babies and that it takes a team to feed them, to protect them, and to bring them into adult hood. This is teaching me that to make a wonderful home for my babies that my husband and I must do it together that one cannot go it alone. I am inspired by how a pack of wolves work as a family unit, and not just parents and kids. That it takes the whole family, grandparents, parents, aunts/uncles, and cousins to help keep the whole pack alive and that a lone wolf is a dead wolf. Every time I walk outside I understand from nature that if we as people cannot put our difference behind us and work together like nature that we will eventually become divide and parish, like so many civilizations have before us.
