Use this thread to say 'hello.' Post a biography, or something else about yourself that you'd like other members of the Order to know. You may also add pictures here!

Hello! I figured I would introduce myself, My name is Blake, I just turned 19, and I am working on my B.S. In Biochemistry, then I would like to pursue a combined M.D./Ph.D in internal medicine/organic chemistry. I am in love with the relationship of organic chemistry with the human body, and it will help me practice holistic medicine when I am finished with schooling. So far I have taken as many forms of chemistry classes as you could think of! I live in an apartment near Cuyahoga Falls/Akron Ohio with my cat and my partner while i finish going to college. Then we will be moving to Michigan, hopefully, after.
In my spare time, I am an alpaca extraordinaire. I have six alpacas, and one llama on my farm at home, and I work with their fiber by washing, dyeing, carding, and the spinning into yarn. Unfortunately I have no skills when it comes to knitting or crocheting, so I typically sell the spun fiber at that point. I have been experimenting with felting the fiber, but I own Suri alpacas, and they are proving hard to felt. My main thing is felted cat toys for my own cat, but I have been trying to felt artwork. If you have any questions about the process from raw fiber to spun yarn, you can ask me! I know the process from alpaca or wool, and buying raw fiber to work with is relatively cheap. Spinning it yourself makes the clothing made from it more special! (And for some people, no the alpacas are not killed for their fiber, and they appreciate the removal of the thick coat because they can suffer from over heating.)
I have completed the BMDO's Dedicant path, and would like to go on to a higher degree eventually, once I have reviewed and practiced the Dedicant path for awhile. I am also very excited to see the seminary is going to be back for higher education, because later on down the road, I would love to pursue a degree. I wish my university had classes like the ones that are going to be taught! It would give a well-rounded education for students.
I am also working on a small project of making my own tea for myself, so if anyone has any suggestions on good combinations of loose leaf, let me know!
So, this was just a little about my personal life, and I am excited to hear more from the rest of everybody since I have really not been connected whatsoever. (no facebook). I am pretty sure this forum has messages, so if you have any questions, message me! I like to talk! /|\
P.S. I'm not entirely sure what "BGNK" is an acronym for. It started out as Bgr33nK, B, for Blake, gr33n for green, and K, for my last name. So I just shortened it to be short and sweet.

Hello, thank you for this opportunity for introductions.
I have been following this Grove for a few years now.
How ever my daily schedule only allows for a solitary path. My practice of Celtic Spirituality has been continuous for 26 years, and it still inspires me with new information.
Would like to share my Druidic Rite of Introduction/DROI, it was written back when my journey was still beginning, at 01:39 est 9/22/2001.
DROI;
I am he who was born in the frozen North, of a father unknown. I have walked the keys of the glades. I am the Eagle that flys with Amhairghin Gluigeal, I am the grey Wolf returning to a home of old. I am an Owl alert at night, I have swam with Eo fis and learned from his Eolas. I am a lone traveler. I have fallen from the sky, frozen for all to see, I have been the foam cresting on a wave. I am the eldest of a family decended from Vidar
Recently, I have wrote a different expression.
Inspired by Awen;
Within the old den and beneath arch of Cromans Grove Under speckled wing splendid, and shade of white fold Sought I the Ceann druidh of MacNessa, the PrinceHawk it is told
His Milidh Draoi I began, on a solitary journey did I rove Through rain of Eire and dusty ruins of Babylon, until full circle ended my travel by trial of fire Over the decades I tempered my soul, forever and by Awens light it moves higher
Within three cauldrons did I unwravel, the Garran Builg Nemediu, old home anew Inside his Neimed Cruimm, once again ard Drui I sought, a worldly view I have brought With a warriors light my Ancestors know, for truths fight do I glow, cenele dari Tuath I and you
Nature will always win through, none can resist try as they do Extinguish the fires when Samhain is near, do so with out worry and never with fear, for it is Bruane I am here! By horseback with crossed sabers, a gallowglass sparth and celtic spear
Two torcs have I earned, one for war it was learned, the other by green path much I yearned Swords to ploughshares for now I've returned, before I found peace had walked land much burned Plenty of scars have I both body and mind, lost count after twenty, no regets here will you find
For the Great Spirit has been kind, those fallen in battle their memory is not left behind Eternally honored within the Heroes hall, forever and always we remember them all Now parting the veil getting ever thin, end of harvest this time soon will begin
Sun reveiling a vision does unfold, all through the lands it will be told Here walks one such as those of old, with honor earned by deeds bold Knowledge gained having lived both sides of the road, Peace and Love and Unity
Those three never are free, an oath made by others such as me To our homes we each depart, never far the bond within our heart Until that time is finally at end, our kinsfolks freedom we Defend
Yet still are wounds that need to mend, upon each other we depend Faithful and silent till the end, we are Fianna together we bleed Be not sad as you read, for such is ours, the Warriors Creed

Hi Bruane- Would you mind if I added that to next month's newsletter? It'll be the Samhain edition, and I think your poem would be a great addition!

I didn't do this when I joined so I will now.
Name is Deanna or Dee. I live in Canada. I was a Solitary Wiccan for many, many years, then went through a phase as an Agnostic Pagan at best. I still had the basic beliefs of paganism, animism, etc but I had no connection with the Divine and wasn't even sure if it was really needed. The last three years has seen a lot of family turmoil and I have found myself contemplating death, reincarnation, and the role of spiritualism in my life. During these contemplations I "felt" something, someone really, which made me feel less insecure and more alive than I have felt for some time. I have been trying to reconnect with that someone again.
I tried to revive my practice in Wicca but found that the idea of a God and a Goddess as an archetype no longer fit with what I felt to be true, that the Gods are individuals and interact directly with the people in this world. This led me to researching and learning. I explored Celtic Reconstructionism, Gaulish Reconstructionism, Brythonic Recontrsuctionism, and finally Druidry. I joined a forum on Facebook looking for discussions of serious Druidic topics and that led me to this group. After some himing and hawing I decided to take the Dedicant Path course.

Hi there, I thought I would also introduce myself. I am so happy to have found this group. Wow, where do I start? I have been part of the Pagan community for the past 18 years. When I was a teenager I began studying comparative religion, which became a lifelong hobby and fascination. Around that time I also started reading Joseph Campbell and books about Jungian Psychology. So, my religious path began as Pagan/ Wiccan. I later developed an interest in Celtic Reconstructionism and Druidry. I considered joining a fellowship, but difficulties in my life at that time prevented me from doing so. It was these same struggles and difficulties that led me to study transcendental meditation, bodywork and energy healing, which ultimately led to a more Pantheistic world view. This Pantheism eventually led way to Humanism/ Atheism, however I still felt very much like a Pagan. That is, the deep reverence for nature that I had always had remained (and even grew stronger). My view of the gods changed. I began to view them as powerful archetypes and symbols of the natural world and of the different facets of human experience. In this sense, I still honored them. However, because I was no longer a theist, I didn't think that there was a place for me in the Pagan community. I didn't think that there were any others like me. However, recently I discovered the Naturalistic Pagan movement and realized that there are many others like me. They were the ones that led me to you, and back to the Druid path that I always wanted to follow. I am a Eastern Medicine practitioner and herbalist, and I have a passion for herbs and natural healing. This path aligns so much with who I am and my other interests (the environment, Eco feminism, permaculture, etc). I am so happy to have found a spiritual community that understands and respects my point of view. Anyway, sorry for the long-winded post. Really glad to be here. -Aine

Hail and welcome, Aine! If you're a fan of Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung, you'll see a lot of familiar materials as you progress through the Dedicant Path. Many Naturalistic Pagans have found a home within our Order as well. We're glad you have decided to join us! Sencha /|\

New to Druidry for the most part. Have been doing the bardic OBOD course for about six + months. Read as much as I can on the topic. I'm also a member of The Sylvan Hearth Pagan Temple and hope to find other druids who want to gather for the sabbats. I have done dedicated myself to this path and hope to, in time, teach others who want to learn druidry. I like to be outdoors, play and listen to music, make things with my hands, and many other things. Hope to get to know everyone and hope I can make it to a gathering at some point. Blessed Be Druidearth.
